Australian Citizenship Test
Since October 2007 everybody applying for Australian citizenship must pass the Australian Citizenship Test. The test is specifically designed to test an applicant’s knowledge and familiarity with Australian principles, the English language and national and historical background.
Every applicant has to answer 20 multiple choice questions selected from a total of 200 questions that are selected randomly from a pre-prepared list by the Australian Government. There are three compulsory questions which must be answered correctly to pass. Additionally, each applicant has to reach a minimum score of 60% to pass the test.
In early 2008 the Government announced that almost a quarter of those who took the test failed . |
