Job Ready Program and trade occupations, 01 January 2010
From 01.01.2010 applicants for certain General Skilled Migration visas who are in Australia and nominate a trade occupation (ASCO 4xxx-xx) will be required to demonstrate that they are "job ready" and able to participate in the labour market in the area of their skills and knowledge.

The following -onshore- visa subclasses are subject to the new job ready requirement:
- Skilled-Independent Visa (subclass 885)
- Silled-Sponsored Visa (subclass 886)
- Skilled-Regional Sponsored (provisional) Visa (subclass 487)
