Skilled Migration Program
These are permanent visas for people who are not sponsored by an employer and who have skills in particular occupations required in Australia.
You must be over 18 and under 45 years of age, have good English language ability, have recent skilled work experience (unless you have recently completed an eligible Australian qualification) and you must also have the skills and qualifications for an occupation listed on Australia's Skilled Occupation List (SOL). These visa applications are points-tested. If the occupation of the main applicant is listed on the Migration Occupations in Demand List (MODL) additional points may be awarded. Further, if the main applicant´s occupation is listed on the Critical Skills List (CSL) the application may receive priority processing. Your spouse/partner and other members of the family unit may be included in the application. The pass marks for the Skilled-Sponsored Visa and Skilled-Regional Sponsored Visa are lower than for the skilled independent visas.
Employer Nomination Scheme
This is a permanent visa option for people who are nominated by an Australian employer to fill full-time positions which cannot be filled from the Australian labour market. You must be under 45 years of age and have good English language ability, unless exceptional circumstances apply. Usually a skills assessment with the relevant skills assessing authority must have taken place with a suitable result. Recent work experience in the nominated occupation, which appears in the ‘Employer Nomination Scheme Occupation List ENSOL, is required. This application may receive priority processing.
Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme
The Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) is for employers in regional Australia to fill skilled positions they are unable to fill from the local labour market on a permanent basis.
Under the RSMS employers are able to nominate staff from overseas to fill full-time, permanent vacancies. You must have the relevant qualifications for the nominated position. You must be under 45 years of age and have good English language ability, unless exceptional circumstances apply. This application may receive priority processing.
SC 457 long term temporary business visa
This is the most commonly used program for employers to sponsor overseas workers to work in Australia on a temporary basis for up to 4 years. You must have an employment background relevant to and consistent with the position to be performed. You must have an acceptable English language ability, be of good character and enjoy good health. Your spouse/partner and other members of the family unit may be included in the application.
