The IELTS test is broken into four test modules: listening, speaking, writing and reading. The following is an overview of some tips for scoring well on the IELTS:
1. Select “general” and not “academic” to be tested under for migration purposes
2. For speaking, be sure to listen to the examiner – some individuals get bored with the subjects and zone out – be focused for better points.
3. Pay attention to word limits:
- For the listening test, you must answer in the given number of words. If you provide an answer with the same meaning but more words, this is considered incorrect.\
- For the writing test, you will lose marks if you do not write at least the number of words listed as the requirement for each question.
4. Be careful in your use of grammar, spelling and punctuation as you will be penalised for mistakes.
5. You aware that may make notes on your question paper during the listening, writing and reading examinations. Ensure you allow time to transfer your responses onto the answer sheet as nothing you write on the question paper will be marked.
